In relation to the new coronavirus issue, there has been a lot of attention paid to what and how much money the country spends on.
In the case of a country, it’s about how they spend your tax dollars, so it’s a huge amount of money and a huge impact, so it’s a huge responsibility.
After all, power is whether or not you have the authority to decide how to spend your money.
There’s also the authority over staffing, such as personnel rights, but that too ultimately comes down to how the money is spent.
Then I thought, if we think about this in our day-to-day work, it’s important to know who “ultimately” makes the decision when it comes to getting people to buy or introduce the product or service we offer.
This is basically an essential task for a sales person, but even if you are a technical person, it is important to carefully check and understand the relationship between the person with decision-making authority and the people around him/her. In many cases, the person who has the right of settlement is also decided after interviewing the key engineers, and there are quite a few cases where such relationships cannot be seen from the client’s organizational chart. Well, that’s one of the purposes of the entertainment party, isn’t it?
Even if you’re selling outstanding technology, and no matter how good it is, it’s people with emotions that make the decision to introduce it, so sometimes it has nothing to do with whether the technology is good or bad, or the price, or how useful it is to the client.
There’s a lot of uncertainty, but anyway.
Who will make the final decision to purchase this product/service?
This doesn’t mean that you have to flatter the person, but that you should always be aware of this.
- Create a happy situation for the individual who has the authority to make the decision
- And create a happy situation for the company he or she belongs to.
It’s important to keep that in mind. The two may be at odds in some cases, but we need to find a good place to drop them. And also,
Sometimes it’s not simply technology that solves the problem.
